Modular Lighting Instruments. Architectural lighting with attitude.
Positively opinionated. Don’t believe in blending in. Always leading the discussion. Modular Lighting Instruments has been making high quality architectural lighting with attitude since 1980.
Architectural lighting is about finding the right balance. Between the aesthetic appeal of a space and the function and quality of the light. In other words, creating architectural beauty but also making sure that it serves our needs.
So that we can function at our best in a specific environment.
CHOOSING ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING.
Apart from the architectural space itself, the luminaire choices of the architect or interior designer depend on many other factors. Like the concept or purpose of the space, and the creative mind of the designer. Every designer you ask will come up with a different lighting solution for the same space.
We believe that lighting should be empowering. That’s why our light fixtures help designers to create new options and original configurations. The modular lighting idea is that one light fixture isn’t just one light fixture. One single product design serves multiple purposes. Breaking set ideas about which lights and where.
ALL ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTS ARE NOT EQUAL
What sets Modular Lighting Instruments apart? It’s about finding the perfect balance between innovative design, expanding applications, and using the latest technology.
Design in extreme detail.
When we talk about design, we don’t just mean the overall product design. We are obsessed by detail. It’s the things you might not notice that are most important to us. We never stop thinking about how we can make a product better. Using magnetic plates to hide wires and screws. Anodization for a smoother colour execution on aluminium. Powder finishing for structured colours. It's the small things that make all the difference.
Application. One is many.
The modular approach to function, shape, colours and finishes offers the designer inspiring and unlimited options. We are continuously extending product families and finding new applications.
We always think ahead, especially in terms of technology. We offer only highly efficient LED lighting units. As well as a standard CRI 90 for all colour temperatures. Which is not standard at all. For customer convenience: different colour temperatures are available for all products. In other words, it’s not something you have to request.
It’s because we care about providing superior quality that we design and make products in-house. That’s why we make our own reflectors. We can use aluminium rather than the plastic that many other companies use. Doing it our-self guarantees greater flexibility and the ability to customize all our designs.
With a name derived from the Latin word for “ruler”, Modular’s Rektor range of LED lighting has every quality of a leader. Winner of the 2014 Henry Van de Velde design award and created in collaboration with Couvreur.devos, Rektor showcases the distinguished effects of right angles, accented light direction and no visible wires.
Just like in the yin-yang symbol, an S-shaped line divides Semih into two equal, yet opposite, sections: the hard, solid part mounted to the ceiling and the soft, round lamp housing, which can be easily pointed in the direction of specific objects or places. Adding a sense of softness and style to any interior, Semih is exceptionally easy to install, thanks to strong mounting magnets.
Marbul feels at home on both the wall and ceiling, which makes it ideal for both residential and hospitality projects. With fully integrated technology, it’s a perfect ready-made solution for renovation projects as well.
With their indirect lighting and subtle shadow effects, wall fixtures are undoubtedly atmosphere creators. Trapz, our organic interpretation inspired by a trapezium, is no different. The flattened cylinder has been finished with two oblique openings, which allow you to see the contrasting interior of the luminaire and immediately create an unusual chiaroscuro effect.
Smart lotis is the best known fixture within the Smart family. The deeply recessed cone which holds the light source inspired the designers to create a very versatile spot. Combine it with a Smart mask or Smart surface box to form the perfect solution for any interior.
Split is the result of improved folding techniques. It is a wall-mounted up- and downlighter which consists of a single folded plate with a fine slit from which the light radiates. Split's asymmetrical design makes it ideal for areas that would benefit from atmospheric lighting, such as living rooms, bedrooms or hallways.
Mini ritm trimless for Smart rings LED
After twenty years still one of the architect's favorites. Mini ritm trimless, with its minimalistic features becomes part of the interior. Its dark or white casing vanishes when switching on the light. The gimbaled system allows you to direct the light source at any angle of your choice. Connect Mini ritm trimless with Smart by adding the Smart frontrings to your recessed spot.
A portmanteau of ‘cubic’ and ‘mini’, Qbini introduces modular, miniature, recessed LED lighting solutions to residential and hospitality venues and boutiques. Qbini allows to effortlessly express a unique lighting concept in every project.
Smart kup is one of the 3 forms of the Smart family. The cone of the Smart kup ends in a fine trim. A trim particular Modular. The same subtle trim is used in several other Modular luminaires. Smart kup can be combined with a Smart mask or Smart surface box to form the perfect solution for any interior.
MP 3.1 is one of the thinnest profiles on the market. In combination with LED lines, LED spotlights or the new directional LED spotlight Rektor, the MP 3.1 is your ideal ally for any project in which you wish to provide both basic and accent lighting with a single fixture.
Glare-free office lighting
With a name derived from the verb ‘evade’, it is clear from the start that Vaeder will run a mile from the merely average. This new fixture feels equally at home in an energy-efficient, ergonomic office environment as in a home office. Its characteristic honeycomb structure in combination with a wafer-thin diffuser reduces glare to a minimum, whilst Vaeder’s ground breaking LED lighting results in an energy-efficient and high performing office fixture.
